Education for adults and senior secondary school students:

The fire accident statistics indicate that the biggest death toll, most victims of smoke inhalation and majority of burn cases happened as a result of fires caused by adults. Therefore the authors of this program believe that there is a pressing need to prepare educational materials for the adult part of society, as well. The knowledge of the safety procedures among e.g. parents is believed to have a direct influence onto the safety of the whole family.
We believe that the transfer of knowledge about safety via schools has achieved its aim. However, achieving similar educational impact among adult population is not an easy task. It would require the construction of techniques on how to popularise the knowledge and educational materials to the population of Lodz, Poland.
Thus, with the aim of educating the adult part of society about the fire safety procedures, two brochures have been prepared. The first one addresses the issue of residential fire dangers and their means of prevention. The second one advises on the correct behaviour during the actual fire emergency.

The 11.09.2001 terrorist attack on the USA was one of the reasons why the authors of the educational programs have directed their efforts into preparing information and instructions on correct behaviour during many dangerous situations, and not just fires which may start accidentally as a result of terrorist actions. Authors believe that there exists a huge educational void in Poland in this field.
Moreover, there is complete lack of knowledge about the correct behaviour in cases of major emergencies e.g. chemical threat over a large area of a town, not to mention the ways of co-operation with emergency services carrying out the rescue. One of the brochures prepared by the authors is devoted to these issues.
